As a few of you know, Saturday June 26th was my Daughter’s 14th birthday and my darling girl decided that she wanted her family to go bowling to celebrate the anniversary of her birth. Great, we make the reservation and we, the Nephew and my Baby Brother all get into the van and head up to the bowling alley for some fun.
Despite the fact that we only got to bowl one game, due to Baby Brother’s brand new (purchased the day before) shorts ripping in the crotch (and by ripping I’m really saying shredding so that I had to avert my eyes because c’mon guys, he’s my brother! I shouldn’t have to explain it!). As if that wasn’t bad enough, the backside began to shred as well so we had to pack it in and head to the car. But there were no tears due to the rapid escape that had to be made, instead their was laughter and good natured teasing. Jokes were told, all at Baby Brother’s expense, but hey he ripped the crotch out of his shorts. What kind of family would we be if we just circled the wagons and good naturedly nurtured and supported him, not my family that’s for sure!
We took Baby Brother back to his house so he could change into shorts that were less air conditioned and headed out to the restaurant where we all enjoyed a very interesting, very rawkous dinner. What do you expect when someone’s junk gets a public viewing? There was just no way those kids would settle down after that!
After dinner we headed to my house where we did the cake once my Mom arrived. The Daughter had a good day, she got lots of birthday cards (have I ever mentioned that she collects her cards, Christmas, Birthday any card she’s ever been sent she keeps and some of them even get hung on her wall. Her card collection is one of her pride and joys.) and money which she is keeping until she goes back to school shopping and then she wants to blow it all on clothes and accesseries.
It was a nice day, the Daughter enjoyed herself and that’s all that matters.
