Stop Racist Labeling in the Media

Dear Media,
You are racist, bigoted, and very ignorant.
You like to put on a face of tolerance and acceptance, but I am so sick of everybody applauding your racist ways and praising you for being so PC.
I am so fed up with the classification system that is used by you, Media as you pat yourself on the back and tell yourself and the world how wonderful you are for being so accepting of ‘different people’. It is in your attempt to show the world that you are so tolerant that you reveal your ignorance.
Every time you mention our new Minister of Defense or the New Minister of Justice, you don’t just say Minister Harjit Sajjan, or Jody Wilson-Raybould, you make damn certain that everyone knows that they are different. You make certain to announce their classification whenever you mention them. At first it was to applaud the Prime Minister for appointing them in the first place, but even that was an insult to those individuals.
But announcing each and every time the classification of these ministers, you are inferring that they did not in fact get the job because of their qualifications but for the fact that PM Justin Trudeau just appointed them because of their classification. That is a racist statement. It’s like walking up to an African-American doctor and telling them that the only reason that they got into university and accepted to the medical program, and got their residency placements was because they were black.
i don’t say ‘my black doctor’ or the ‘Hispanic actor’ because it’s racist. They are just a doctor or an actor.
Yet the media loves to classify, to label and point out that people are different in the name of celebrating the differences, but I think that by presenting these classifications it’s bring the spotlight not on the persons abilities or qualifications but on their differences.
To announce the former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario as Disabled Lieutenant Governor David Onley would be ignorant and insulting. Nobody ever did that. They told his story, made a celebration of his accomplishment and that was that. Why didn’t they refer to him as Disabled each and every time they said anything about him? Because it would have been ignorant. So why is it alright to use classifications when discussing the ‘minorities’ in Justin Trudeau’s cabinet? If you wouldn’t use the classification for fear of being bigoted or racist when discussing special needs individuals, blacks or Hispanics, perhaps you shouldn’t use it for anyone.
But the Ministers of Defense and Justice are wearing their classification, not in celebration of their success but as a point of noting that they are in fact not white or Christian.
Say it once, it’s a celebration, but point it out each and every time you speak of them and you are a racist, bigot.
